A love of both photography and the Lakeland fells are my motivation and inspiration for making images. Successful landscape photography is all about patience and light. Whilst we can’t necessarily predict light quality, half the battle is simply being there with a camera when conditions look promising.

I feel privileged to be able to earn a living doing something I thoroughly enjoy. If my photographs convey that passion then I will have succeeded with my photography.

For the technophiles I use a mix of traditional film and newer digital technology. Cameras include a panoramic Hasselblad XPAN 11, Ebony RSW45 with Horseman 612 back and a Nikon digital system. (See 'What’s in the Camera Bag(s)?' below for more details). Film stock is exclusively Fuji Velvia 50. I have the original slides Imacon scanned and then output using only the finest inks and heavyweight paper.

I opened my own gallery in Keswick ‘Viewpoints’ in July 2009.
